Vincenzo came out of his trance when he felt himself lightly, as Seraphina crawled away.
“I’m sorry,” he mumbled.
“It’s okay,” she whispered, still maintaining the same distance.
He walked toward her slowly, his movements smooth and intentional. Without saying much, he gently lifted her into his arms.
“Hey baby, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare you. I promise, I won’t harm you,” he confessed softly.
She melted a little in his arms, her body instinctively relaxing.
“Seraphina, may I ask you a question?” Vincenzo asked, his voice low and steady.
