Book 7 Chapter 1.

1664 Words

Ten years later. Thea’s POV. “As we commit his body to his final resting place, for we are dust and unto dust we shall return.” The catholic priest speaks as we all stand heartbroken as we watch his casket being lowered into the ground. The great Alfonso Ricci is gone. He didn’t die in the normal way a Don would. Not by violence or threat. He died of stage 4 prostate and testicular cancer. His death has hit us all hard, mom especially. We knew he didn’t have long, but nothing truly prepares you for this. He will lie beside my nonna. Serafina. His first love. I look around at my family and extended family and everyone is in different stages of grief. My nonno may have been a hard bastard, but he was still my nonno and one of the best men that I am privileged to have had in my life.
