Conrad’s POV. I must have dozed off after my goddess was moved to the ICU. I lift my head from the bed and stretch my back, hearing the satisfying pops, and look at my sleeping goddess. She kept mumbling about babies, Merida and pink elephants. I stand and look around the ICU. The other five beds are empty, and there is no one in here. I look back at my goddess and lean over her and kiss her forehead and stroke her head. “I’m going to get a coffee and I’ll be right back. Keep dreaming of your pink elephants.” I say but of course she doesn’t respond. I walk out of the ICU. Even the hallways are quiet, too quiet. It feels like the hospital has been abandoned.
