“We’ve been expecting you.”
The deep voice slithered through the darkness, making me jump. I staggered, clutching the bathroom doorframe, my pulse hammering in my ears. A few seconds later, I recognized the voice—Cade’s.
Then, the lights flicked on.

“Surprise,” he said, waggling his brows. “I startled you, didn’t I?”
