I woke before the sun came up because the matebond would not let me sleep. It pulsed low and restless under my skin while grey light slowly crept through the cabin windows, and even though Ezra was nowhere near me I could feel the tight focus rolling through him like a storm that had not decided where it wanted to break yet. I lay there staring at the ceiling for a moment and tried to slow my breathing. It did not work. The bond carried too much through it right now. Ezra was awake. Of course he was.
