1765 Words

EZRA Waking up next to lainey in her bed in the cabin made me smile without meaning to. I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek, making her stir but she didn’t wake up. Doors opening and closing. Low voices that stopped the second someone important walked past. The whole place felt like it was bracing for impact, and maybe that was because everyone knew we were three days out from the challenge while Christopher’s wolves kept circling the border like f*****g vultures. Or maybe it was because Warren sat in the holding cells downstairs after making the pack look divided in front of an enemy Alpha.
