Ezra did not wait. The second Declan told him that Alpha John was back on the training field and still talking to warriors like he had every right to stand there and poison the pack against its own Alpha, Ezra turned and walked out of the office without another word.
Declan stayed at his shoulder, and the two of them moved through the packhouse with the kind of purpose that made wolves step out of the way before either of them had to say anything.
By the time they stepped outside, the air already felt wrong.
It was too still for late afternoon, and the usual sounds of the pack settling into routine had been replaced by something tighter and sharper, because news traveled fast in a place like this and everyone already knew Alpha John had returned.
