Even after we returned to the office, I couldn't stop thinking about Wendy. The image of her face, so desperate and broken, kept replaying in my mind.
Damon sat down beside me on the couch, his hand finding mine. "You're thinking about her."
"I know I shouldn't feel bad for her," I said quietly. "Not after everything she's done. But seeing her like that..."
"You have a kind heart, Sera. That's not something to apologize for."
