"Wait," I said as Damon led me past the car. "I thought we were going to dinner?"
"We are." His smile was mysterious. "Just not the kind of dinner you're expecting."
He guided me back toward the cave, and I felt a flutter of nervousness. "Damon, I don't know if going back in there is a good idea. The last time---"
"Trust me." He squeezed my hand gently. "I promise this will be different."
We entered the cave, and he pulled out his phone, using the flashlight to illuminate our path. But instead of stopping in the main chamber, he kept going deeper.
"There's a passage back here," he explained, leading me through a narrow opening. "Not many people know about it."
