Lyra walked beside Kael in silence for a few moments, letting the weight of what just happened settle properly. It wasn’t a victory. It wasn’t a loss. It was something in between, something that would only show its impact over time. “They didn’t expect us to push that directly,” she said. Kael didn’t slow his pace. “They expected resistance. Just not this early.” Lyra nodded slightly. “Elena hesitated.” “She calculated,” Kael corrected. Lyra glanced at him. “That’s not the same thing?” “No,” he said.
