I lay on the ground. The searing pain coursing through my body was almost unbearable. Each breath felt like a struggle as if my very life force was slipping away, leaving me on the precipice of death. Logan’s gigantic and visibly angry wolf’s throw had sent me hurtling through the air, crashing into the unforgiving floor with a bone-jarring impact. My heart stubbornly beat, a reminder that the will to survive still burned within me, even as everything else seemed to be spiraling out of control.
