I slept for several hours, and when I woke up, he was gone. His side of the bed was still warm, and I hummed as I inhaled his scent. He’d probably just gone back to his room to get his things. He’d be back, and we’d start our new life together. Moonlight shone through the window, and I smiled happily. Unable to help myself, I moved the pillows to the ground and stripped the blankets and the sheets off the bed. I didn’t have his clothes, nothing that smelled like him, but this would have to do. I could call housekeeping for more sheets and pillows. This needed to hold two, but it was an absurd hour to demand customer service. Trick would understand. First nests were often crappy. Still, I wanted it to be nice. I wanted it to convey all I felt and wanted to do for him: protect, comfort,
