Curiosity killed the cat, and judging from the look Trick gave me, it also killed half-werewolves. Deanna was not a wealth of information, but I could use my nose.
First impressions were everything. I’d released a feral wolf on a pack I hadn’t even met yet. Trick hadn’t mentioned our next move, but I wasn’t one to sit and wait. The narrative was mine to control if I got ahead of it.
Three pairs of stone-cold eyes stared at me as I floated across the floor to stand by Trick. Surprise and fury vibrated within him, but he didn’t say a word.
Many packs had Councils of Elders. Most of them didn’t hold any power, but this one had summoned Trick through a high-ranking member of his pack.
