Pain seared through my body. “No!” I cried out. Whirling around, I grabbed the syringe and threw it onto the floor, shattering the glass, but it was empty. Whatever was inside was already coursing through my veins.
I plowed my fist into the human, breaking his nose. He grunted in pain but didn’t say anything. As he doubled over, I grabbed the bedpan from the nearest shelf and beat him over the head with it.
