Anya’s POV I picked up my fork and took a cautious bite. The honey melted on my tongue, sweet and rich, and the bacon was perfectly crisp. I had barely tasted food like this in days. The simple act of eating, under his watchful gaze, felt both comforting and tense. I chewed slowly, trying not to make any sudden movements. Every so often, I caught his eyes on me, observing, quiet, unblinking. The dining room was calm, almost peaceful, except for the faint sounds of silverware and the quiet hum of the morning. I ate more, letting the warmth of the food settle in my stomach. The pancakes were sweet but not overpowering, the fruit fresh and tart, and I couldn’t help but savor each bite.
