We were on our way back to the pack house to look for Renee when I got the call from the hospital that Avalon had “taken a turn.” I wasn’t sure exactly how to interpret that message. Did they mean that she had taken a turn for the worse, and she was dying? Or had she taken a turn, completing the transition from human to a werewolf? I seriously hoped it was the latter. Chris turned the Bronco around and turned on the lights and sirens as we sped back toward the hospital.
