I know I should see my mom. I want to see my mom, but it's the way my mom used to be that I want to see.
My mother has multiple sclerosis, and the type she has causes her muscles to seize up, leading to cardiac issues. She can barely function, and it’s hard to see my once vibrant mother curled up in a wheelchair, unable to do anything.
“Laura, they want to put your mother on the transplant list for a new heart,” my father said to me.
