When Lissana returned to the room, she paused just before placing her hand on the door. Her heart was still pounding from all she had heard and now kept silent about. She took a deep breath, ready to compose herself.
The door suddenly opened from the inside.
Eren came out and they almost collided. Upon seeing her, his face lit up with an immediate, sincere smile, as if everything was right with the world again.
“Where have you been?” he asked. “I was just about to look for you.”
Lissana lowered her gaze for a moment.
“I’m sorry. You were asleep, and I didn’t want to wake you.”
Eren’s smile faltered slightly.
“I got scared when I woke up and couldn’t find you.”
A pang of guilt hit her.
“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Eren watched her in silence for a few seconds, as if he
