"Mmm… that's strange Adam. You sure?" I ask, because I heard Hermione tell me on the phone five days ago that her marriage didn't go through.
"She really is, man. She got married to... a friend named Hunter," he says, shaking his head and pushing his glass of bourbon to his lips.
He winces as the bourbon scorches his throat. I see his pain.
My man's been chasing that girl, Hermione, for months, and suddenly he thinks she's married.
But Hermione said it didn't work out, which means he doesn't even know yet.
I give him a faint nod and take a long, burning sip from my own glass.
I know he wishes we could talk about it, but I won't break the news to him.
Somehow he's gotta find out by himself, because I'm not even sure why Hermione hasn't told him yet.
