As soon as the words leave my lips, I turn my back on him.
I have to ignore my breaking heart because the love I feel has been lying to me. My heart is a liar.
That monster doesn’t deserve to get a single gaze from me.
I rush over to Hunter. My body crashes into his arms and I collapse like a little kid.
He holds me tight against his body. The sobs are loud and painful.
I just can’t believe this is happening. My body trembles and I feel like I’m breaking apart.
“It’s alright, sweetie,” he says, and he pats my back gently.
But it’s not alright. Nothing about tonight is alright.
He grabs me by my arm and he guides me to the passenger seat of his car.
He opens the door for me and I drop down into the seat like a dead weight. I don’t have any strength left in my body.
