The knock came sharp and insistent against the heavy wood of Zayn’s office door. He ignored it. “—as I was saying,” he continued smoothly into the headset, eyes fixed on the figures glowing on his laptop screen, “the restructuring will—” The knock came again. Louder. Urgent. Zayn’s jaw tightened. Since returning from the honeymoon, he had deliberately scaled back, moved his work home, reshuffled schedules and board calls. This time was supposed to be different. Lena needed stability. The babies needed calm. They needed time—time to learn each other without walls, without pressure.
