Violet
I stared at the opposite wall.
There were certain conversations a person simply wasn't supposed to overhear.
And apparently, a blonde woman offering a giant biker a blowjob was one of them.
"Your ass doesn't f*****g approach me, June," Doom growled.
"I approach your ass when I want something."
I pressed my lips together.
A small snort escaped before I could stop it.
Oh, crap.
I immediately closed my eyes.
Maybe nobody heard that.
"What the f**k was that?"
Nope.
Apparently, somebody had.
I slowly opened my eyes.
The blonde woman was staring directly at me.
"Something funny, b***h?"
My eyes widened.
"Excuse me?"
"Mind your own f*****g business."
I blinked.
Well, that was rude.
"I'm trying to, lady, but your screeching voice is making it difficult."
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Oh.
Oh, no.
Why had I said that?
Doc slowly turned his head toward me.
Doom's eyebrows rose.
The blonde woman's mouth fell open.
"What the f**k did you just say to me?"
I winced.
"I'm sorry. That came out wrong."
"You little b***h!"
"June," Doom warned.
She ignored him.
"Who the f**k do you think you are?"
I glanced at Doc.
Was there any chance he'd give me something that would knock me unconscious again?
Because that sounded wonderful right about now.
"I'm Violet," I answered before thinking.
Doc made a choking sound.
Doom's mouth twitched.
June looked ready to explode.
"I don't give a f**k what your name is!"
"Okay."
"Don't f*****g okay me!"
I stared at her.
Good grief.
Was there anything I could say that wouldn't make this woman angrier?
"Look, I'm really not trying to argue with you."
"Then keep your f*****g mouth shut!"
I opened my mouth.
Closed it.
Then nodded.
That seemed safest.
Unfortunately, June wasn't finished.
"You think you're something special because Doom's standing beside your bed?"
I frowned.
"What?"
"Don't play f*****g stupid with me."
"I'm not."
"You're just another little b***h trying to get his attention!"
I looked at Doom.
Then back at her.
"Lady, I promise you, getting hit by a vehicle wasn't part of my plan today."
Doc burst out laughing.
June's face turned bright red.
"YOU THINK YOU'RE FUNNY?"
I flinched.
Pain shot through my head.
"June!" Doc snapped. "Lower your damn voice!"
But she was already moving toward me.
"You need someone to teach you some f*****g manners!"
I instinctively tried to move away.
A sharp pain tore through my injured shoulder.
"Ah!"
Doom moved so quickly I barely saw him.
One moment, June was coming toward my bed.
The next, the enormous biker stood directly between us.
His hand closed around her wrist.
"WHAT THE f**k DID I TELL YOU?"
June froze.
"Doom, she insulted me!"
"I don't give a f**k!"
His voice was terrifying.
"Did I or did I not tell your ass to leave?"
"Yes, but—"
"Then why the f**k are you still standing here?"
June swallowed.
"She needs to learn some respect!"
Doom stepped closer.
"You're a f*****g club girl, June. Not my Ol' Lady. You don't get to come into Doc's clinic and start s**t with my guest."
June's expression changed.
"But, baby—"
"Don't f*****g baby me."
He released her wrist.
"Get your ass out. NOW!"
June hurried toward the door.
She shot me one last furious glare before disappearing.
I stared after her.
Then slowly looked at Doc.
"Well."
Doc's shoulders started shaking.
I frowned.
"What?"
He burst out laughing.
Doom turned toward me.
His expression was impossible to read.
"Something funny, woman?"
I shook my head.
"No, sir."
He stared.
I swallowed.
"Although, in my defense, she did tell me to mind my own business."
Doom dragged a hand down his face.
"Jesus f*****g Christ."
I blinked.
"Wouldn't that be considered holy incest? Considering they're father and son?"
Silence.
Absolute silence.
Doc slowly turned toward me.
Then he completely lost it.
The older biker doubled over, laughing so hard he had to grab the counter.
Doom stared at me.
"What the f**k did you just say?"
My eyes widened.
Oh, crap.
I'd done it again.
"I am so sorry. I don't know why I said that."
Doom continued staring.
"Jesus Christ, woman."
I opened my mouth.
Doom pointed a massive finger at me.
"Don't."
It was just a joke we all know they are the same person.
But I just wanted to have a little fun. Even with all this going on.
I immediately closed it.
Doc was practically wheezing.
Doom shook his head.
Doc laughed harder.
Doom looked at him.
"Something you wanna share, Doc?"
The
older biker shook his head.
"Nope."
I adjusted myself against the pillow.
"Can I ask something?"
Doom's eyes returned to me.
"What?"
"Is everybody around here this friendly?"
Doc nearly doubled over.
Doom stared at me for several seconds.
Then the corner of his mouth twitched.
"Get some f*****g rest, Violet."
I nodded.
"Gladly."
He turned toward the door.
"Doc, make sure her ass stays in that bed."
"Will do, Prez."
Doom glanced back at me.
"And try keeping that mouth of yours shut."
I gave him an apologetic smile.
"I'll do my best."
He shook his head and walked out.
I watched the door close.
Then looked at Doc.
"Do you think she's mad at me?"
Doc laughed again.
"Flower, I think you just made yourself an enemy."
I groaned.
"Wonderful."
He checked my shoulder before helping me settle more comfortably.
"Don't worry about June. Prez will handle her."
I glanced toward the door.
Something told me that wasn't going to be a pleasant conversation.
For June, anyway.
"Doc?"
"Yeah, Flower?"
"Can I have another nap?"
He chuckled.
"Best idea you've had since waking up."
I closed my eyes.
"Agreed."
............................
Doom
I stepped out of the clinic and shut the door behind me.
Fucking June.
I'd told her to leave.
Instead, she'd run her mouth at an injured woman and damn near put her hands on her.
All because Violet had made a smart-ass comment.
Granted, the comment had been funny as f**k.
But that wasn't the point.
June knew better.
She wasn't my woman.
She wasn't my Ol' Lady.
And she sure as s**t didn't have the right to threaten somebody under my protection.
Violet was in that clinic because of me.
I'd put her there.
That made her my responsibility until Doc cleared her.
I headed toward the clubhouse.
June had some explaining to do.
And I was in no f*****g mood to hear excuses.
