I was stunned. How dangerous could it be that only two people survived? Out of almost twenty-three people my mum knew went to the land of the Dreaded, she only heard of two returning?
What in the world happened to the remaining twenty-one?
The whole thing felt scary to me, but I already knew in my mind that I wasn’t going back. I was going to go to the Land of the Dreaded, and return with Lucien by my side.
“Just two. No one else.” Mum added, and I sighed. I could see why she was worried about us going. If my daughter were to go somewhere as scary, and dangerous too, I would be scared out of my wits.
