**ADAM**
The collapse is louder than any explosion I have ever heard, a violent tearing sound that drowns out shouted orders and instinct alike, and for one sickening moment all I can see is stone and iron falling where Sasha was standing a heartbeat ago. Dust surges outward in a suffocating wave, slamming into me hard enough to knock the air from my lungs, and I hit the ground on my shoulder with a force that rattles my teeth and sends pain flashing down my arm.
