Everything is dark, like I'm trapped in a sea of darkness that refuses to release its hold on me. I have no sense of time. I just seem to be trapped there when I hear the distant sound of voices. “How is she doing?” the soft voice of my mother breaks through the darkness surrounding me. “She’ll be awake soon,” another voice breaks through, “she’s going to be okay.” William? What’s happening? Why does mom sound so upset? I struggle to break through the darkness. I need to check on my mom and find out what has her so upset. Surely it can’t be anything serious…right? Thankfully, the darkness around me fades to a dizzy fog before it disappears for good. Blinking open my eyes I notice the familiar ceiling above me. I’m home? How’d I get here?
