The days after I said yes passed in a strange blur of emotions. Part of me felt relieved that I had made Damien happy. The way his face lit up when I agreed, the way he held me like I was the only thing keeping him together, it softened something in me. But the other part, the one that still carried all the doubts and secrets, whispered that this was moving too fast. That saying yes was more about not hurting him than being truly ready.
