Marcus’s POV
I sat in the back booth of the bar, my phone buzzed on the table. Lila. I knew it was her before I even looked. The woman had a way of finding me no matter how hard I tried to disappear. I answered, keeping my voice low.
“What do you want, Lila?”
Her voice was sweet on the surface but sharp underneath. “Marcus, darling. I need to see you. Tonight. The usual place. We have unfinished business.”
I sighed. “I told you I was done. After what happened with Alex… I am out.”
She laughed softly. “You are not out until I say you are out. Come. Or I might have to remind you what happens to people who cross me.”
