I waited for Sofia in the apartment. The clock on the wall showed it was very late. Her shift should have ended more than an hour ago. I checked my phone again. No message from her. My stomach felt tight. I tried not to worry too much but it was hard. Finally, the door opened. Sofia came in slowly. Her face was pale and her eyes were wide. Her cheek had a small cut and her clothes were dirty. The strap of her bag was torn. She closed the door fast and locked it with shaking hands. “Sofia!” I jumped up from the couch and ran to her. “What happened to you? You look terrible. Tell me right now.” She leaned against the door for a second. Her breathing was fast. “Elena… sit down. Please. I need to tell you everything but I am still shaking.” I held her arm gently and walked her to the couch
