Mom spread this super old, yellowed map across the table, and moonlight from the window hit it just right to light up the "Moonlight Forest" marker. The paper looked like it might crumble if someone breathed on it wrong.
Alerion leaned over the table immediately, getting so close to the map his nose almost touched it. He pointed at the edge with his finger. "I've got scouts here. If Valeria and I take this route, it's the safest option. No questions."
The second Alerion finished talking, Zane squeezed in next to me, basically shoving his way into my personal space. He thumped his chest like some kind of gorilla showing off. "This path goes through thorns and brambles. I can take the scratches, I'm built for it. Valeria should come with me. I'll make sure nothing touches her."
