What…” Cole whispered.
“This cannot be,” he added, his voice breaking.
Another Alpha gone.
Now the Elder too.
“This was no accident,” I said, stepping closer but careful not to disturb anything. “And whoever did this thought they were clever.”
“Who?” Cole demanded.
My jaw tightened.
“The girl.”
“Aria?”
“She walked out. He did not.”
Silence filled the room again.
“Close it,” I ordered. “No one touches anything.”
He shut the bathroom door carefully.
“The guards at the gate,” I continued. “They will explain how she left.”

We moved quickly toward the entrance gates.
The two daytime guards straightened the moment they saw us.
“Good day,” they greeted.
“Spare the greetings,” I snapped. “Who opened the gate for Aria last night?”
They exchanged confused
