Nadia’s POV
I watched Kael approach me, following Professor Orion’s instructions, unease creeping across my skin. The tension between us might have eased, but that didn’t make the prospect of him being my sparring partner any more appealing.
Though he seemed the better option compared to Anna—whose glare ghosted against my skin the entire time Kael and I regarded one another—I wasn’t quite sure what having him as a partner would entail. Would he be a good teacher? Or would he use the class to take his anger out on my still-healing body, just as Anna had?
The students here seemed to feed on nothing but violence. I had to figure out a way to survive it.
“I’m not going to kill you,” Kael grunted, joining me at my spot on the training field. “Relax. Your fear is giving you away.”
