Nadia  I spent the rest of that day, and the following night, choked up with disappointment, confusion, and pain.  Vincent’s obvious shutdown of my advance wasn’t as bad as Kael’s outright rejection had been – I could barely imagine anything hurting like that had. But this still hurt.  I lay awake in my opulent bed in his villa that night, staring at the dark ceiling, thinking of when Vincent sat at my bedside to comfort me. Maybe that had been a fluke all along.
