Alexander I guess I’ll be missing dinner with Evelyn. I send a servant off with a note to Evelyn that she should eat with Emma tonight because I have to work late and that I look forward to climbing in bed with her later. I’m too much of a coward to go tell her myself, to see the disappointment and worry on her face when I tell her what I’m going to do. The way she clung to me this morning replays in my mind, as if she somehow knew we would be parted for longer than usual today. Of course she didn’t know. She couldn’t have known that my scouts finally found the rebel werewolf camp, finally trapped one of the rebels and dragged him back to the palace. She couldn’t have known that my interrogation of him today would reveal to me the head of the rebel organization. Tomson Murray of
