Gabriel “Hello, my name is Gabriel, and I’m an addict.” I stood up and looked around at the ragtag bunch of people sitting around in a circle. Men and women, young and old, rich and poor. It only went to prove that no one is immune to addiction. “My drug of choice was cocaine, but honestly any substance would do, whatever I could get my hands on, washed down with lots of alcohol.” Some heads bobbed around the room in mutual understanding. That was the good thing about rehab, if you could call it good. People understood. They might not have the same story as me, but we all fought the same demons.
