The entire parking lot stood frozen. Nobody moved or spoke. Nobody even seemed willing to breathe. The bomb sat beneath my truck like a sleeping monster and every person in Devil's Hollow understood exactly how close disaster had come. Knox kept one arm wrapped around me while Saint and Roman secured the area and Bones had already drawn his weapon and was scanning the perimeter. Wire slowly crouched several feet from the truck. "Tell me you can handle that." Roman said as Wire stared at the device. "I can handle it." Wire said. The pause that followed made everybody nervous and Roman narrowed his eyes. "You sound uncertain." Roman said. "I am uncertain." Wire said. "That isn't comforting." Roman said and Wire pointed at the bomb. "Neither is that." Wire said but nobody laughed.
