I should have trusted my instincts. The SUV followed me after meeting Adrian had disappeared too easily and somewhere in the back of my mind I knew it hadn’t simply given up. People hunting me never gave up. By late afternoon I needed air more than another conversation so I slipped away from the warehouse without telling anyone except Roman and he only grunted before waving me off. “I’ll be back in twenty minutes.” I said. “You better.” He said. The words followed me as I walked toward a multi level parking garage a few blocks away where I had left one of the club’s borrowed cars.
