The restraint finally snapped and relief slammed through me so hard I nearly laughed. Instead, I forced myself to stay still. The compound remained wrapped in darkness while shouting echoed outside my room and every instinct I had screamed to move faster. The blade stayed clenched in my hand while I crept toward the door.
