“I think you love the version of me that agreed with everything you said.” I said.
“That’s not true.” He said.
“It is.” I said.
“You’ve changed.” He said and I smiled.
“No. I’ve finally stodpped apologizing for existing.” I said.
The words hung in the air between us and for the first time since he arrived tyler looked genuinely lost.
“I miss you.” He said.
“You miss having someone who always forgave you.” I said.
“I miss us.” He said.
“There isn’t an us anymore.” I said and he looked around the workshop.
“Is this because of them?” He asked and I followed his gaze toward the Iron Vipers.
“They’ve got nothing to do with it.” I said.
“They’ve filled your head with nonsense.” He said and I laughed.
“No. They’re mostly filled my workshop.” I said.
