Jace's POV
The barbecue had ended less than an hour earlier when Sarah's call changed everything.
I was still standing beneath the patio with Paige when my phone rang again, and this time, Sarah's voice sounded more serious than it had during her first call.
"Jace, I need you at the station." She said.
"What's happened?" I asked.
"A shipment disappeared." She said.
"What shipment?" I asked.
"I'll explain when you get here." She said and she ended the call before I could ask anything else. So I looked at Paige.
"That doesn't sound good." I said and she nodded.
"Do you want me to come?" Paige asked but I shook my head.
"Stay here." I said and she frowned.
"Jace." She said.
"I don't know what we're walking into." I said and she reached for my hand.
