I watched Alex mingling with the nobles downstairs. They drank wine and laughed between themselves.
It was amusing how he could switch from screaming at me in the hospital to laughing with these men as if nothing happened.
I wanted to leave. The party was boring and there was no one to speak to. I turned, intent on heading to the door when I saw Alex’s mother approaching. Judging by the expression on her face, she was not pleased to see me at all. I looked around for an escape, but there was none.
