The moment my paws touched the ground, I pushed myself forward, rushing to catch up to my former wife, who was already moving at full speed. She was strong and fast, nearly as strong and fast as I was, but I was determined to catch her, to show her that I was with her after my tremendous failing of only a few minutes before.
I wouldn’t fail her again, after I had already failed so much.
Even if she couldn’t forgive me for this, or for anything I had done in the past, I was going to be with her. We were going to rescue our daughter together.
