Chapter Thirteen Venessa’s pov I woke up to complete and total silence. There was no sweet good morning text message waiting on my screen. There was no deep, rumbling voice note sent straight from the hockey ice rink. There was absolutely no explanation at all for why Khalid had completely ignored all twenty of my frantic phone calls the night before. The heavy weight of guilt from missing his big game still sat like a giant rock in my chest, but now, it was mixing with a fast-growing anxiety that I just could not shake away.
