The news about Khalid agreeing to the charity sports day spread through our small town like a fast, roaring wildfire. By the very next morning, it seemed like absolutely every single person in the community knew about it. The quiet peace of our morning was completely shattered by the sound of the telephone. Grandma’s old telephone on the kitchen wall would not stop ringing. It rang and rang, over and over again, from the moment the sun came up. It was filled with excited calls from neighbors, old high school friends, and people we hadn't spoken to in years. Everyone wanted to know if the rumors were true. They all wanted to hear that the famous hockey star was really going to be at the local park.
