Uther knew he would need the help of the Turith tribe, only he did not think it would be this soon. The thought had crossed his mind after Kaida disappeared, but he was unwilling to approach the tribe until the worst came to pass. However, knowing that the wicked witch of Wregon was involved was enough for him to reconsider that decision. He would have preferred being Kaida's only knight in shining armour but with the sun setting a third time already since she disappeared, seeking more help had become a necessity.
