Jake helped Lyra out of the car, his arm snug around her waist as they started toward the pack house. The sun had just dipped behind the trees, leaving streaks of purple and gold across the sky. Lyra leaned into him more than she meant to. Her legs still felt wobbly, her body drained from what she had done for Kiernan. But the sight waiting at the front of the pack house made her pause. The new ramp was finished. Smooth, sturdy wood stretched from the drive to the front door, framed by clean rails and little solar lanterns that were just beginning to glow. It was beautiful. Even better than the old ramp. Jake gave her waist a squeeze, clearly reading her mind. “Looks good, doesn’t it?
