Russ and Callan met them outside the council chambers so they could all walk in together. Lyra tried to ignore the tight ball of dread curling in her stomach. She was not eager to explain Donovan’s newly discovered gifts to the elders. It felt like handing them more ammunition to doubt her and her brother.
The elders were already seated, just as they had been the last two times. Christian sat at the head of the table with Drew to his right, followed by Alistair, Parker, Rina, and Dylan.
Drew openly scowled at them, but the other elders offered warm smiles and polite greetings. Christian stayed silent, his face unreadable as he watched them file into the room.
“So, Lyra,” Alistair began once everyone was settled. “I understand you’ve been training regularly with some of our warriors.”
