I can smell her. She’s close. My heart beats rapidly in my chest. The smell of orange and rose grows stronger until I hear a tiny knock on the door and it cracks open.
She looks around the room at our parents and I can see the surprise on her face as they land on my parents. Rob must not have told her. f**k, of course he didn’t. She was so scared she ran off, and she doesn’t even know she’ll be the future queen. I can’t believe he didn’t tell her.
She looks up at me with big, pale green eyes and she looks so scared but I’m completely lost in them.
Mate! Mate!
Calm down, Altair. She’s scared. We have to be careful with her.
She’s our mate!
Yeah, she’s our mate. We’ll figure it out. She’s so damn perfect.
