Five months later…
“Evan!” Serenity called out.
“What’s up, baby?!” Evan responded.
“Can you come help me hold this?”
“What are you doing!?” Evan exclaimed when he walked into the baby’s room in their mobile home.
“Hanging up the decorations we got for her room! You said you would do it, but you haven’t!” Serenity shouted back, her hands on her hips as she turned to face him on the step stool.
“Serenity! The doctor told you not to stand on the step stool this far into the pregnancy!”
Evan rushed across the bedroom, his heart leaping into his throat. In a second flat, he had a firm, supportive hand on her waist and the other extending upward to steady her arm.
“I was going to do it tonight after finishing the Zoom meeting I have with Brandt in New York!” Evan insisted,
