The door closes softly behind Caspian. The sound is quiet and for several seconds, I simply stare at the empty doorway.
He is gone. Just like that. My heart feels strangely hollow and I don't know why. Maybe it's because I know where he is going, maybe because no one has ever left to fight for me before or maybe because he says it so simply: "To bring your mother home." As if it is the most natural thing in the world. It's as if my pain is now his responsibility.
