I stared at the black paint across my apartment door while anger crawled under my skin hotter than fear ever could. Everybody stood behind me waiting for a reaction while smoke from the clubhouse still drifted through the property outside. Drake stayed so close beside me that his shoulder brushed mine every few seconds. “Storm. Leave it and we’ll handle it in the morning.” Blade started carefully. “No.” I said. I grabbed a rag from the cleaning bucket near the stairs before anyone could stop me. “You don’t need to do this yourself.” Drake said grabbing my wrist lightly. “Yes, I do.” I said.
